As we enter our last full week of school before the upcoming break, there is still lots of learning happening across classrooms! Our students and staff continue to stay engaged, focused, and excited as we move through this week. Next week we have a full day Monday the 22nd and half day Tuesday the 23rd.
We invite you to take a look at the photos included in this newsletter from last week’s Family Reading Night and Community Meetings. Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We are grateful to share these moments with you and your children.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make Stapleton's Reading Night such a success, especially our PTO. It was wonderful to see so many families in the building—buying books, sharing dinner together, listening to engaging read-alouds, and creating bookmarks with their children. These are the events that make our Stapleton Community special!

We gathered during community meetings to discuss our character trait of the month, Cooperation. Students shared their thoughts and ideas on how they can show cooperation at school. Grade 4 and 5 students had to cooperate in creating a handshake without speaking!

We would like to remind families that all classrooms have a scheduled snack time built into the daily routine. Providing a snack helps students stay focused and energized for learning throughout the day.
Snacks available from the office are limited and typically consist of simple options such as fruit or dry cereal. If you are able, please send your child to school each day with a snack to enjoy during their classroom snack time.

Please remind your student to collect any items that may have been misplaced. We have numerous coats, hats, mittens, sweaters, etc. that need to find their homes. All items left after January 16th will be donated.

|
On cold weather days, it is important that students have proper winter attire (coat, hat, gloves/mittens and boots). We go outside for recess based on the guidelines below.

Riding the bus is a privilege, and students are expected to follow all safety rules each day. When students repeatedly choose not to follow these rules, they may temporarily lose the privilege of riding the bus.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home. Please take a moment to review the bus rules with your student(s) and remind them of the importance of staying seated, keeping hands and feet to themselves, speaking respectfully, and listening to the driver at all times.
It is also important to note that school staff are not on the bus, and in most cases the bus driver is the only adult present. Drivers must be able to focus on the road and keep all students safe without distraction.
Thank you for your continued support in helping ensure a safe, respectful bus experience for all students.

Please remember to notify the main office of any changes to your student’s dismissal plan. To ensure a safe and smooth end to the school day, we kindly ask that all changes be communicated before 2:45 PM.Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping dismissal safe and organized for all students.

This year, our shared focus at Stapleton is captured in the following student-centered goal:
“As a Stapleton student, I believe in myself and take an active role in my learning.” Our school goal is announced each morning during morning announcements and is posted in every classroom. Students are making iReady goals with teachers. Ask them about their iReady progress.

Student Cell Phone & Smart Watch Use
Students are not permitted to use cell phones or smartwatches during the school day. We have included smartwatches in this policy because many models now have the ability to text, call, and take photos, just like cell phones. If a student is found using their phone or smartwatch during the day, they will be asked to put it away. If the issue becomes persistent, the device will be held in the office until the end of the day, and caregivers will be notified.
Thank you for your support in helping us minimize distractions and maintain a focused learning environment.
