Cold Weather and Outdoor Recess

With the weather turning colder, we want to remind you of our cold weather guidelines for outdoor recess. Each day we will determine whether the conditions including temperature or wind chill are severe enough to hold recess indoors. Basic guidelines for weather decisions are below and can be found in more detail (including wind-chill)

Below 10 degrees: Indoor Recess

Below 15 degrees: Shortened recess

Below 32 degrees: Coat, long pants, gloves & hats as appropriate

Students must have appropriate cold weather attire to participate in outdoor recess. If your student needs these items please reach out to us.

During extremes in weather patterns, we will assess the school playground for weather related safety issues. Recess will be held indoors if student safety may be at risk due to conditions on the playground.

Daniel's Table

Daniel's Table is a resource we have to support families with meals. We have a freezer full of frozen meals to be given to families. You can come to the nurse's office to pick up or we can send it home in a backpack. If this is a resource you would like to utilize please reach out to the school.

Discovery Museum

The Discovery Museum came to Stapleton last week. In Grade 2, students engaged in lessons on the Physical Changes of Matter. Students completed several hands-on dry ice investigations. In Grade 4, students engaged in experiments with Sound Waves. Students actively participated in exploring sound with vibrating tuning forks.

Bus Rules

An important reminder about bus expectations and student safety. Over the past few weeks, we have received an increasing number of bus misconduct referrals. We have been actively reteaching expectations through individual and group bus lessons, had conversations with students, and caregivers, created bus behavior contracts, and delivered logical consequences.

Riding the bus is a privilege, and students are expected to follow all safety rules each day. When students repeatedly choose not to follow these rules, they may temporarily lose the privilege of riding the bus.

We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home. Please take a moment to review the bus rules with your student(s) and remind them of the importance of staying seated, keeping hands and feet to themselves, speaking respectfully, and listening to the driver at all times.

It is also important to note that school staff are not on the bus, and in most cases the bus driver is the only adult present. Drivers must be able to focus on the road and keep all students safe without distraction.

Thank you for your continued support in helping ensure a safe, respectful bus experience for all students.

Bus Rules

Please remember to notify the main office of any changes to your student’s dismissal plan. To ensure a safe and smooth end to the school day, we kindly ask that all changes be communicated before 2:45 PM.Thank you for your cooperation and support in keeping dismissal safe and organized for all students.

School Goal for 2025-2026

This year, our shared focus at Stapleton is captured in the following student-centered goal:

“As a Stapleton student, I believe in myself and take an active role in my learning.”

We are committed to helping every student develop confidence, ownership, and pride in their learning journey. But we know that student success doesn’t happen in isolation—it takes a partnership.

That’s why this year, we are also prioritizing strong collaboration with caregivers. Families play a vital role in supporting students’ academic growth and well-being, and we look forward to deepening our connection with you as we work toward this goal together.

When students believe in themselves, take initiative, and have a strong support system behind them, there’s no limit to what they can achieve.

Throughout the school year, we’ll be sharing more information, strategies, and opportunities for students, staff, and caregivers to engage with this goal in meaningful ways. Stay tuned—there’s great work ahead!

Student Cell Phone & Smart Watch Use

Students are not permitted to use cell phones or smartwatches during the school day. We have included smartwatches in this policy because many models now have the ability to text, call, and take photos, just like cell phones. If a student is found using their phone or smartwatch during the day, they will be asked to put it away. If the issue becomes persistent, the device will be held in the office until the end of the day, and caregivers will be notified.

Thank you for your support in helping us minimize distractions and maintain a focused learning environment.
